Ponda Fort (Shivaji Fort)

Ponda Fort is also called Shivaji Fort which is situated in ponda taluka, north Goa district. This fort was built by Adil Shah Muslim ruler but destroyed by Portuguese ruler in 1549 but it again rebuilt Shivaji in 1675. Now this fort has a statue of the Shivaji. It is a good picnic place where has a good park. This fort is open to general public to visit; it is also renovated by Government of Goa.

Ponda is a taluka in north Goa. It is situated just centre of the state. It is also famous for industrial area. Its nearest other tourist attritions are Farmagudi Fort, Kamakshi Devi temple, Colva beach, Benaulim beach, Majorda beach and Palolem beach.
